NaNoWriMo or NaNo, as it is also known, is National Novel Writing Month. A month-long event that encourages participants to write a novel (at least 50,000 words) in the month of November.
I have just finished week 1 of my first NaNo and here is my word count:
1 November — 0
2 November — 2 319
3 November — 884
4 November — 3 150
5 November — 3 513
6 November — 1 608
7 November — 1 625
Not bad! I don’t normally track my daily word count and this alone has made NaNo worth. Apparently, a daily word goal works well for me.
What went wrong on the 1 November? I was travelling most of the day with my little dog Anton (pictured) to Scotland after being forced to leave my husband at home. I was in the hotel when the government announced that England would go into lockdown the following Thursday. I had to decide whether to continue on to the Highlands or drive the 6 hours home. Thankfully, I stayed.
So, I am on target but before the celebrations begin, I’ve been away from the stresses of the day job and would have been disappointed if I hadn’t managed to achieve the weekly goal. Next week will be a new challenge.
Take care,
